Waterloo has secured approval through the NSW Government’s Housing Delivery Authority (HDA) pathway, marking a major milestone in the delivery of 826 Build-to-Rent homes in Sydney’s inner south.
The approval covers the State Significant Development application and rezoning of the 2.1-hectare site at Danks and Young Streets. It is the largest housing development approved through the HDA pathway to daten with construction already underway.
Managing Director Joe Nahas said the approval was an important step in progressing the vision for Waterloo.
“Waterloo is a rare opportunity to deliver housing at genuine scale in an established inner-city location, but our ambition for the project goes well beyond the number of homes,” Joe said.
Designed by SJB, Bates Smart, Curious Practice and Chenchow Little, the precinct will bring together rental living with approximately 4,095 sqm of retail and dining, resident amenity, wellbeing and public spaces.
Located less than four kilometres from Sydney CBD and within walking distance of Waterloo Metro and Green Square Station, the precinct will deliver new rental housing in one of Sydney’s most connected inner-city locations.
Waterloo will also integrate City Starter, City Stayer™, the apartment typology developed by Coronation and Nation to broaden housing choice for people at different stages of life.
The approval was recently featured on 7NEWS covered by Angelique Opie, with our Head of Urban Transformations, Aras Labutis and Nation General Manager, Charlotte Dillon discussing the significance of Waterloo, the scale of housing being delivered and the role Build-to-Rent can play in increasing housing supply and choice across Sydney.
