Coronation’s Head of Urban Transformations, Aras Labutis, has spoken with 7NEWS reporter Angelique Opie about the mounting pressures affecting construction and housing delivery across Western Sydney.
The report examined the impact of rising project costs, regulatory requirements and increasingly complex delivery conditions, with new data showing costs have increased by 4 per cent since the beginning of the year.
Speaking alongside representatives from UDIA NSW, Newtown Fisher Group and Decode Group, Aras shared a developer’s perspective on the challenges affecting project feasibility across the region.
While Western Sydney continues to benefit from significant infrastructure investment, population growth and long-term demand for housing, current market conditions are making it increasingly difficult for projects to move from planning into delivery.
Despite these immediate pressures, the report reinforced confidence in Western Sydney’s long-term future and the importance of creating the right conditions to support new housing, investment and continued growth across the region.
