Coronation has retained its position among Australia’s largest apartment builders, ranking fifth nationally for multi-unit construction and fourth among all home builders in New South Wales in the 2025/26 HIA Housing 100.
Published annually by the Housing Industry Association, the Housing 100 ranks Australia’s largest residential builders by the number of homes commenced during the financial year.
The result reflects the scale of Coronation’s integrated development and construction model, with major apartment projects progressing across Sydney.
It comes as apartment delivery continues to face significant pressure across Australia. While the nation’s 100 largest home builders increased total commencements by 9.4 per cent in 2025/26, multi-unit starts increased by just 1 per cent.
Coronation Head of Urban Transformations Aras Labutis said the ranking reinforced the importance of maintaining the ability to move projects from planning into construction.
“Ultimately, housing supply comes down to delivery. Approved projects need to get out of the ground, and that remains particularly challenging in the apartment market,” Aras said.
“Our integrated model means development and construction are working together from the outset, giving us greater oversight of feasibility, design and delivery as projects move through each stage.
“We have a significant pipeline across Sydney, but the focus is not simply on having projects approved. It is about creating the conditions to get them built and continuing to bring well-located, high-quality housing to market.”
Coronation’s current pipeline spans Build-to-Sell and Build-to-Rent communities across Sydney, with projects progressing in Parramatta, Ashfield, St Peters, Erskineville and Chatswood, alongside future housing projects at Waterloo and St Leonards.
The HIA Housing 100 results come against a challenging backdrop for housing delivery in NSW. HIA estimates that 53,753 new homes commenced across the state in 2025/26, up 14 per cent on the previous year, while the market share of the state’s 20 largest builders fell from 27 per cent to 23 per cent.
“Coronation’s result reflects the significant scale of its apartment delivery, ranking among Australia’s five largest multi-unit builders and fourth among all home builders in New South Wales,” said Simon Croft, HIA Chief Executive, Industry & Policy.
“At a time when the cost and complexity of delivering apartments remains a significant challenge, maintaining this level of activity is an important contribution to housing supply in New South Wales.”
