Nation sets new benchmark for Build-to-Rent interiors, awarded Silver at BETTER FUTURE Awards 2026

MEDIA RELEASE

Sydney, January 2026 – Nation has been awarded Silver at the BETTER FUTURE Award Program – Australian Design Awards 2026, recognising the interior design excellence across its build-to-rent (‘BTR’) communities at Charlie Parker in Parramatta and Mason & Main in Merrylands.

Rather than treating interiors as a finishing layer, the award recognizes Nation’s decision to position interior design as core infrastructure in rental housing – shaping long-term livability, operational performance and resident retention.

Delivered by Coronation, Charlie Parker and Mason & Main are the first completed buildings under the Nation platform and were conceived as purpose built, design-led homes made to feel permanent for renters from day one – not temporary, transactional or disposable.

Nation’s design philosophy brings architecture, interiors, amenity and service together as a cohesive experience – while each project directly responding to space. At Charlie Parker, interiors reflect the building’s sculptural architecture through soft curves, pale timbers and layered neutral tones. At Mason & Main, materiality draws on local heritage, with brick references, industrial textures and warm, grounded finishes. Across both communities, layouts, joinery and finishes are designed for durability, ease and long-term use.

Furniture was custom-designed in collaboration with MCM House, with every piece scaled specifically for apartment living and built to withstand years of occupation. Shared spaces, including private dining rooms, cinemas, libraries, gyms, pools and co-working lounges, are designed as genuine extensions of the home, rather than add-on amenities.

The award also recognises the lived experience of residents within these communities, Nation resident Muneeba (Nee Nee) Ravat said the design of her home and the shared spaces had played a key role in how settled she feels.

“It doesn’t feel like a temporary rental, it feels like home. There’s a sense of calm and care in how the spaces are designed, from my own apartment through to the shared areas. It’s a place I feel comfortable, settled and proud to call home.”

Charlotte Dillon, General Manager of Nation, said the recognition reflects how design, experience and community come together across the portfolio.

“This award is a meaningful recognition for Nation because it reflects the experience our residents have every day. Charlie Parker and Mason & Main were designed to feel considered, welcoming and permanent, not transactional. Seeing both communities fully leased reinforces that when homes are designed around how people want to live; the response speaks for itself.”

Joe Nahas, Managing Director of Coronation Property, said the award highlights the strength of collaboration behind the projects.

“From the outset, our focus has been on creating places with lasting quality and character. Working closely with Nation, our architects, interior designers and long-term partners like MCM House has allowed us to deliver homes that feel cohesive, thoughtful and lived-in from day one. This recognition reflects the care, collaboration and shared intent behind both communities.”

As a Silver recipient, Nation’s portfolio will now progress to the Better Future World Design Awards, with winners to be announced in January.
