With the construction of the much-anticipated Parramatta Light Rail now well underway, the NSW Government has released concept plans for Sydney Metro West.
It is great news for residents of 8 Phillip Street, who will now have access to world-class infrastructure and several transportation modes, all within walking distance from home.
Station Location Announced
The Sydney Metro West Environmental Impact Statement is currently on exhibition, with Stage 1 detailing the proposed location of the Parramatta Metro Station.
Enviably located on Church Street (between George and Macquarie Streets), the new Parramatta Metro Station is less than 2 blocks from 8 Phillip Street.
Sydney Metro West will involve the construction and operation of an underground metro rail line, approximately 24 kilometres long, connecting Parramatta to Sydney’s CBD in just 20 minutes.
Stage 1 construction of the Parramatta Metro Station is anticipated to be completed by the third quarter of 2023.

Parramatta Light Rail
Parramatta’s CBD will also receive two Light Rail stops, both within minutes of 8 Phillip Street.
The Eat Street light rail stop will be located along Church Street between Phillip and George Streets, within Parramatta’s new shared light rail and pedestrian zone.
The Parramatta Square light rail stop will be located along Macquarie Street, between Horwood Place and Smith Street. This stop will provide easy access to entertainment, eateries and education facilities as well as a convenient interchange with existing train and bus services at Parramatta train station.
