JUNE 2023

On a recent morning filled with art, innovation, and collaboration, the NAWIC NSW Annual Breakfast and tour of the Archibald, Wynne, and Sulman Prize exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW left attendees captivated and inspired.

Guests were warmly welcomed by NAWIC NSW members, and gracious gallery hosts, setting the scene for an engaging networking experience. As industry colleagues mingled over breakfast, conversations fostered opportunities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

A highlight of the morning was the panel discussion by event co-host Richard Crookes Construction, head contractor on the recently completed Sydney Modern Project. The construction specialists outlined the complex technical processes undertaken to realise the gallery’s striking design by Pritzker prize-winning architects SANAA from Japan, in collaboration with executive architects, Architectus.

The wider project team's proficiency, dedication, and collaboration in establishing Sydney's latest art precinct were evident to everyone. Similarly, a video presentation highlighting the implementation of an advanced 4D pre-construction modelling program demonstrated the intricacy of the gallery's design and the demanding site conditions that the team had to conquer to ensure its successful and timely construction.

Guests then embarked on a tour of the Archibald, Wynne, and Sulman Prize exhibition that showcased an awe-inspiring collective of art that left a lasting impression on the group. Attendees were reminded of the power of imagination and innovation with each work conveying its own unique story, inviting personal contemplation, and sparking meaningful discourse.

The event served as a poignant reminder of the infinite potential that arises when diverse disciplines intersect. Through collaboration, innovation, and imagination, positive outcomes are achieved, benefiting not only the property, development, and construction industry, but more significantly, the broader community.

We extend our gratitude to our event co-hosts NAWIC NSW and Richard Crookes Construction for orchestrating this enlightening morning. The Archibald Prize offered a vivid glimpse into the world of artistic excellence, cultivating an environment of endless creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
