Earlier last month, Coronation Property's Head of Design, Mona Chao joined other female property professionals in guiding a group of secondary students through a challenging design task as part of the Property Council of Australia (PCA) Girls in Property Program.

The students gained valuable insights into the property industry and were introduced to various career opportunities within the sector with emphasis placed on the significant contribution that the property industry makes to the social and economic development of Australia.

Tasked with designing a residential dwelling model that would accommodate an indigenous extended family, the students needed to incorporate sustainable materials so that the structure could withstand the extreme Central Australian climate whilst also addressing the family structure, and the lifestyle requirements of its inhabitants. The dwelling will be built as part of a Federal Government funded development in a remote community in Eastern Arnhem Land currently facing significant issues of overcrowding.

Following their design work, the students were asked to create a pitch to present to the Government Department and various community leaders including providing a compelling explanation of their design, and articulation around why the proposed dwelling would significantly improve the living standards of the community.

Thank you, Mona, for dedicating her time and expertise to uplift and inspire these future female leaders. The event was truly successful, and as a result, four students expressed a keen interest in pursuing their Year 10 work experience at Coronation.

Coronation’s business growth strategy focuses on attracting and nurturing a future-fit workforce. The organisation fosters a culture of diversity and inclusivity, providing employees with opportunities for continuous improvement and advancement.
