IF YOU HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT PURCHASING AN OFF-THE-PLAN APARTMENT IN 2020, THERE’S NEVER BEEN A BETTER TIME TO BUY.

The Federal Government’s ‘HomeBuilder’ scheme of $25,000 can help make your new home dreams a reality – and sooner. So, what does the HomeBuilder scheme mean for you? We break it down.

A SUMMARY

HomeBuilder is a time-limited grant program to help the residential construction market bounce back from the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Scheme provides eligible owner-occupiers (including first home buyers) with a grant of $25,000 to build a new home, purchase an off-the-plan property or substantially renovate an existing home where the contract is signed between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020.

ELIGIBILITY

To access your $25K HomeBuilder grant, you will need to meet the following eligibility criteria:

•  Purchase an off-the-plan apartment and exchange contracts between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020.

•  Your new property value must be capped at $750K.

•  You must earn no more than $125K as a single, or $200K as a couple.

FIRST HOME BUYERS

If you are an eligible first home buyer, you can also take advantage of the $10K first homeowner grant, which will mean a combined incentive of $35K.

The good news is, HomeBuilder will also complement stamp duty concessions and other grant schemes, as well as the Commonwealth’s First Home Loan Deposit Scheme and First Home Super Saver Scheme.
