AS SEEN ON: ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN
8 Phillip St has seen significant progress throughout the first quarter of the year.
The building has made tremendous progress, now reaching Level 16. This means the structure of the QT Hotel rooms is now complete, with the construction progressing onto the hotel amenity floors.
Most excitingly, the exterior façade works have progressed on the building and are now visible from the street. This striking façade brings the architecture of the building to life, promising to be a standout in Parramatta’s skyline. The facade installation is intricate, consisting of approximately 120 panels on each floor, taking a week to install.
Domenic Alvaro, Director at Woods Bagot, remarks on the unique architectural façade coming to life at 8 Phillip St.
“At 8 Phillip St we are not just building a place to live, we are creating a symbol of Parramatta’s growth and shaping a fresh vision for a viable alternative to Sydney, where residents will choose to live, work and build their communities.
We are crafting a dynamic community hub, mixing local heritage with modern living, where people can connect day and night. This building will stand tall, honouring the heritage below and making a bold statement about Parramatta’s spirit and vitality.
With the façade now being installed, you can see the contrast that has been achieved between the copper and soft grey glazing panels and start to appreciate how dramatic the tower is going to be, particularly with the first diagonal cut and cantilevered soffit at level 6 being finalised and becoming visible from the street." – Domenic Alvaro, Director at Woods Bagot.
The team onsite is continuing to move forward with the ongoing structural activities, fit out and façade works to ensure the project's functionality and aesthetic appeal. Looking ahead to the next quarter, the team will continue moving upwards, with works soon commencing on the residential apartment floors.
