Stunning sunset renderings accompany fresh details that describe the “world-class design” for 8 Phillip Street in Western Sydney. Poised to rise 55 storeys in Parramatta, Sydney’s second business district, the landmark development by Coronation Property and Woods Bagot will contain 314 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, plus exclusive penthouses.

A mesh-embedded glass cladding system aims to accentuate the twisting rhomboid form of the tower, which will also feature windbreak balconies that allow residents to customize their outdoor living areas. The lower levels of the tower will include a boutique QT Hotel, with 205 standard deluxe rooms, 50 executive deluxe rooms and two QT suites accompanying a restaurant, a spa, several meeting spaces, and a 200-person ballroom. This designer hotel will sport a three-storey lobby void served by a staircase drawn from Louis Vuitton’s Vienna outlet.

The rooftop will be adorned with the ‘Studio 54’ bar, the highest of its kind in Sydney, with room for 600 patrons. A rooftop garden will also host a variety of contemporary native Australian species, including mature trees. On the ground floor, residents will enter their designated entrance via the heritage-listed St Andrew’s Hall, a 1926-built structure that is integrated into the skyscraper’s base. “We made the bold move of integrating St Andrew’s Hall directly into this magnificent contemporary building, with the development poised to sit atop the existing hall, and its inherent internal structure to be the feature of a stunning new residential entrance,” said Woods Bagot Director Domenic Alvaro. “Also, the spire of St Andrew’s Church is reflected in the design of the building’s lower levels, and is echoed in views of the building from all approaches, thus making the heritage structure the hero of the area.”

Set for completion in 2020, the development is one of the city’s biggest yet, and Coronation Property is banking on the project setting the tone for mixed-use apartment towers to come. “Fortunately, Australia has some of the world’s best architectural creatives who understand our local culture and bring international expertise to the project,” said Joe Nahas, Managing Director of Coronation Property. “This development is truly visionary and manages to exceed the high standard of design we insist on.”
